How to insert the water softener filter into the tank?

- Test the water hardness with the paper strip. Set the date on the top of the water filter to respect the usage cycle. 
- Remove the water tank from the machine and fill it. To activate the water filter, fill it with water (at least 500 ml). 
- Immerse the filter in the tank, apply light pressure to remove excess air and finally, insert the filter in the right place. 
- Close the water tank cover and insert it into the machine.

Caution: the water filter is effective for 2 months. If the machine is not used for a long time, the water filter must be removed.

How do I restore factory settings on my EC860 machine?

Accepted Answer

It is not possible to restore the factory settings of the EC860 machine. However, if you wish to change the amount of coffee dispensed, simply press and hold the coffee dispense button until the desired amount is obtained, then release it.

If you wish to set one of the buttons for milk drinks, you will need to repeat the following steps twice: 
- Press and hold the desired drink button to begin programming. 
- Release the button to stop the milk flow and set the amount. 
- Press and hold the same button to stop the coffee flow and set the amount. 
- To obtain the same drink, simply press the same button once and you will obtain the newly programmed amount of milk and coffee.

Comment faire mousser le lait avec le mousseur à lait traditionnel?

Le mousseur à lait traditionnel peut prendre un peu de pratique. Premièrement, assurez-vous que le lait est frais et à la température du réfrigérateur. Utilisez un pot en acier inoxydable pour vous permettre de vérifier la température du lait. Pour réaliser le cappuccino parfait,  plongez le bec du mousseur dans le lait. Quand l’appareil est prêt, tournez doucement le bouton de vapeur à la position ouverte. Ceci fera mousser le lait. Ne faites jamais chauffer le lait à plus de 70 °C/160 °F, car cela aura un impact sur la qualité du lait moussé. Il est aussi possible de faire mousser le lait de cette façon pour de délicieux chocolats chauds ou des boissons maltées. Après chaque utilisation, laissez un peu de vapeur s’échapper du mousseur pour enlever le résidu de lait et n’oubliez pas de bien nettoyer les embouts amovibles.

My pump espresso machine has gone into standby mode and won't turn on anymore. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Your espresso machine has an automatic shut-off feature that puts the machine into standby mode after a certain amount of time. Usually, simply pressing the on/off button will turn it on. However, if the steam button is also pressed, the machine will go into safety mode and shut off almost immediately when you try to turn it on. To fix this, make sure the steam button is in the off position before turning on your coffee machine. The machine should now be working properly.

Ma machine à espresso à pompe vibre beaucoup. Que faire?

I can't get the filter handle to straighten on my new pump espresso machine. Why?

Accepted Answer

The filter handle on traditional pump espresso machines does not need to be at a right angle to function properly. Simply squeeze the handle firmly and you are ready to make espresso. After two or three uses, you may notice that the seal has softened considerably. As long as the handle is firmly secured when brewing, the machine will function normally.

Coffee is flowing too fast from my pump espresso machine. Why?

You may need to tamp the ground coffee more firmly. Make sure to use a fine espresso grind. Never use instant coffee in the machine, as the results will be disappointing.

My machine is making a loud humming noise and is not dispensing water. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

If you hear a humming noise and the steam/water light is on and the tank is full, there may be some air in the machine. 
Please follow these simple steps: 
Turn on the machine. 
Fill the tank with water. 
Place a cup under the traditional milk frother or attach the hot water nozzle. 
Open the steam valve fully for about 30 seconds until water flows out of the frother or press the hot water button. 
Don’t worry if the machine makes a loud humming noise.

My steam nozzle does not froth milk. Why?

Please check the following to resolve the issue:
- Ensure that the steam function has been selected on the control panel.
- Ensure that the steam button is fully open.
- Thoroughly clean the frother nozzle(s) and remove any milk residue. (There should be one or two removable milk nozzles depending on your machine.) These should be cleaned after each use.
- Check that the two O-rings on the milk frother are intact.

Why does coffee overflow the edges of the filter?

There may be too much ground coffee in the filter, which is preventing water from passing through the system properly, causing an overflow. If not, check if the filter handle is tight.

How do I improve the crema of my coffee with my pump espresso machine?

The secret to getting a nice crema on your coffee is to use fresh, finely ground espresso coffee. When tamping the ground coffee, make sure not to pack it too tightly to allow the water to pass through the coffee. Make sure not to overfill the coffee filter; it is recommended to use one spoonful of ground coffee per espresso. Make sure the coffee filter is clean or try a different one.

How do I increase the temperature of my coffee made with a pump espresso machine?

- To heat the cup, run the machine once without using ground coffee or run hot tap water into the cup.

We recommend using 2% milk (or milk with less fat) at refrigerator temperature (around 5°C). Milk at this temperature is optimal for forming micro air bubbles, a key element for obtaining a thick foam that also acts as a thermal insulator, keeping the coffee and milk warm.

How do I clean my automatic milk system?

After each use, it is essential to always clean the milk circuit, by simply turning the cleaning button or, depending on your machine model, by pressing and holding the cleaning button for a few seconds. This process helps to remove any milk residue that may be blocking the milk pipes. Keep the milk container lid clean by washing it in warm soapy water or in the dishwasher at least once a week. Make sure the nozzle on the machine is also free of residue, paying particular attention to the O-rings on the nozzle.

If you have been using your pump espresso machine for a while and have never descaled it, there may be a build-up of limescale deposits inside your machine, which can impact the temperature of the coffee. We highly recommend descaling your pump espresso machine to prevent the build-up of limescale deposits. De’Longhi have developed a complete range of natural descaling products, Ecodecalk, specifically designed for our coffee machines, as well as a water softener filter to reduce limescale deposits inside the coffee machine.

What is the best way to store my coffee beans?

It is recommended to keep your beans in their original packaging if it has a freshness valve. Make sure to remove the air from the bag. You can also put your beans in an airtight container and store it in a cool, dark place.

Why does espresso flow very slowly?

Accepted Answer

There may be too much coffee in the filter. Use one level spoonful of coffee for a single espresso and two spoonfuls for a double. Make sure you are not using the ESE pod filter with ground coffee. When pressing the coffee with the grinder tamper, do not press too firmly and make sure the grind is not too fine. The machine may need to be descaled or the filters cleaned or replaced.

Why is it so difficult to insert or remove the filter from the portafilter of my Dedica machine?

Rather than forcing the filter with your fingers, place the filter upside down on the counter (place a cloth underneath the filter to avoid scratching the counter), then, with the filter holder upside down, align it with the filter and press down with your body weight to snap it into place.

We suggest changing and refilling the water tank at least once a day. Fresh clan water is crucial for good quality espresso.

Can I make coffee and steam milk at the same time with La Specialista Arte?

Accepted Answer

La Specialista Arte has a unique heating system for coffee, hot water and milk drinks. Although you can't do these actions together, there is no waiting time to switch from coffee to milk or vice versa. By having a Thermoblock heating system, the temperature is precise and stable for each function and the machine's heating time is always around 35 seconds. The grinder can be activated independently of the brewing and steaming functions, so you can steam the milk while grinding and then brew it as soon as the milk is finished. The Thermoblock's electronic temperature control allows the machine to automatically switch from coffee brewing temperature to steam temperature and back again in a matter of seconds. This means you can froth or steam milk almost immediately after serving coffee, or vice versa, you can deliver a perfect espresso almost immediately after frothing milk.
