Description
The ECM heat exchanger, more stable and faster
The ECM Mechanika Max II is a manual heat exchanger espresso machine with a rotary pump and a heated brew group. It is built for the home barista who wants precise brew temperature and milk drinks without waiting.
What sets it apart
Its E61 group (the classic chrome-plated brass brew group) has its own built-in heating elements. You set the brew temperature from 90 to 95 °C, one degree at a time, with the PID controller (electronic temperature control).
ECM also redesigned the heat exchanger to limit group overheating at idle. According to the manufacturer, the machine is ready in about 12 minutes, twice as fast as the Mechanika Max.
Key specifications
- About 2 L stainless steel boiler with heat exchanger: steam milk while you brew.
- Rotary pump: quiet operation and steady brew pressure.
- 3 L reservoir or direct water connection: choose the mode in the menu.
- Active and passive pre-infusion: two separately adjustable times.
- Three steam levels (124, 127 and 130 °C): from a cortado to a large latte.
- OLED display and two pressure gauges: boiler and pump pressure at a glance.
- Spring-loaded tilt levers for steam and hot water, cool-touch steam wand.
- 58 mm portafilters in chrome-plated brass, professional format.
- Footprint: 275 × 445 × 405 mm (W × D × H, without portafilter), 23.5 kg.
Day to day
Program two on/off windows per day so the machine is hot when you wake up. An energy-saving mode takes over after a period of inactivity.
The display reminds you to clean the group and replace the water filter. When plumbed in, incoming water pressure must stay between 1 and 2 bar.
Who it is for
- Enthusiasts who make espresso and milk drinks every day and want a stable temperature.
- Anyone planning a direct water connection, now or later, without changing machines.
- Heat exchanger users who want to set their brew temperature to the degree.
Less suited for
- Full independence between brewing and steam: see the ECM Synchronika II or the ECM Technika VI dual boiler.
- A narrow counter: the ECM Mechanika Slim PID is only 250 mm wide.
- One-touch coffee: see our JURA and De'Longhi automatic machines.
Positioning
Among heat exchanger machines between $3,000 and $4,500, the Mechanika Max II stands out with its heated group and adjustable brew temperature. It also combines a rotary pump and plumb-in capability in a 275 mm wide body.
Included and pairs well with
Included: two portafilters (single and double spout), 7 g and 14 g baskets, blind basket, tamper and brush. The water connection hose and a water filter are also supplied.
Add to your setup: ECM S-Automatik 64 or ECM Exacto grinder, ECM flow profiling valve and ECM steam tips.
